RN-370

RN-370

AAA Battery powered Wi-Fi serial Adapter

DESCRIPTION

The battery powered Wi-Fi serial adapter, RN-370, supports RS232 interface and when connected to a remote host it transfers data, read or written, to the serial interface of a remote application such as an iPhone app, data logger or PC control console.

Data is transferred over a reliable TCP/IP socket or by using other protocols such as UDP and HTTP.  802.11 b/g infrastructure or ad hoc networking has the advantage of using existing low cost wireless connectivity and being able to remotely connect to any Wi-Fi serial adapter in the world.

HTTP Client

A built in HTTP client can be used to post data to a remote server without the need for any host controller.  By simply enabling the HTTP protocol, the RN-370 can wake up and send data to a remote server as an HTML post.

This feature allows the RN-370 to be an off the shelf, standalone networking client that does not require any software programming.

Mobile Applications

The RN-370 can easily connect to an iPhone/iTouch.  It is a simple unrestricted solution to connect your external device with an iPhone app.  Simply setting the device in ad hoc mode allows any Wi-Fi enabled computer or smartphone to control and monitor serial devices.  In this mode, the Wi-Fi serial adapter broadcasts an open network that the iPhone/iTouch can connect to.  Once the connection is established, data can be transferred between the RN-370 and the iPhone/iTouch app.

Applications with multiple TCP/IP sockets can control and monitor hundreds of Wi-Fi serial adapters remotely distributed across your LAN, campus WAN, or any other network.
