G2 Microsystems’ G2C501 Certified by Cisco as CCX Compliant

Supporting the Cisco Compatible Extensions program with silicon has accelerated
the development of compliant Wi-Fi Asset tracking tags by WhereNet and Pango

Campbell, CA. – May 22, 2007 – G2 Microsystems Inc. today announced that its G2C501 Wi-Fi system-on-chip (SoC) fully supports Cisco’s new CCX protocol, enabling Wi-Fi asset tracking companies to quickly develop CCX compliant asset tracking tags. Compliance with this protocol ensures that the location and telemetry information sent by CCX compliant tags over the Cisco Unified Wireless Network will be captured and stored by the location appliance.

“We have been working closely with Cisco to verify this protocol and are excited to see the support from multiple system vendors,” said John Gloekler, president and CEO of G2 Microsystems. “We have always supported both telemetry and location in our silicon but the Cisco Compatible Extensions program ensures that this information is stored in a uniform manner by the location appliance.”

The G2C501 fully supports the IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi standard, the ISO 24730 standard, as well as two chokepoint technologies for location. Additionally, the sensor interfaces integrated into the G2C501 enable it to monitor multiple types of asset conditions, including temperature, humidity, pressure, chemical, security seals, motion, shock, light, and radiation.
