Every day, sensors are deployed to measure the state of both mobile and stationary assets. Leveraging the pervasive Wi-Fi infrastructure that exists in enterprises, retail outlets, factories, and warehouses, companies can, for a very low cost, continuously monitor such things as temperature, motion, security and shock. Such things as theft and spoilage can be avoided by programming a tag to trigger an alarm when a security seal is broken or temperature reaches a pre-set value. With battery-powered sensors that last for many years and with wireless communication, implementing a monitoring system costs very little - no new infrastructure, no cables to pull, and no large software development since notification of an event can occur over the LAN, or even the Internet.
G2 technology has already been deployed in temperature sensors and a variety of medical monitoring systems. Up to eight different sensors can be added to G2's low-power, chips or Wi-Fi Sensing Module, allowing for complete flexibility and customization. G2-based sensing devices can wake on a timer, gather sensor data, and if appropriate, authenticate and associate with a Wi-Fi network to send alerts or telemetry reports to any server on the network.
